Tips for Visitors

Hours. Before your visit, always check hours or call ahead..978.264.4200

Admission. If you are a member of the Museums, please have your membership card with you. If you do not have your card, you will be asked for a picture ID.

Weather. Since rainy days tend to be busy at the Museums, it is best to come early.

Waits. When the buildings reach capacity, we will institute a wait list. During a wait, come to the admissions window to check in and receive a number. Numbers are called as space becomes available in the Museums (usually within 30 - 45 minutes). You may leave the Museum grounds if you have a wait number, without losing your place in line.

Parking. Although there is ample free parking, when the parking lot is full, there is additional free parking at Ace Hardware, 1/4 mile from the Museums. Use the newly-paved sidewalk to get back to the Museums. When parking at the Museums, please observe the fire lane signs and park only in designated spaces to keep the lot safe for pedestrians, buses and emergency vehicle access.

Accessibility. The Science Discovery Museum is fully accessible on all levels, the Children's Discovery Museum is not. Strollers are not permitted in the Children's Discovery Museum; if you are visiting with an infant, please bring a Snugli® or backpack carrier. A limited number of carriers are available for your use.

Lunch. Take a break for lunch and come back to the Museums when you are done. Your hand stamp allows you to be re-admitted all day. Since there are no indoor eating facilities on site, before you leave for lunch, ask for a copy of "On the Map", a guide to restaurants and shops in Acton. Out of respect for people with allergies, no food or drinks are permitted in the Museums.

School Vacations. During school vacation weeks, the Museums can be very busy! For smaller crowds, please consider visiting promptly at 9 am or in the afternoon.

Groups. Sorry, no group reservations will be accepted during Massachusetts school vacation weeks! To schedule a group for any other time, call 978.264.4200 xt 11.

Library Passes. If, during the summer, you are visiting with a library pass on a Monday, make sure that you have the Wed/Fri pass. This is the only pass that will be accepted for Monday visits during the summer.
