Grandparent Discoveries Blog

Welcome to the new Grandparent Discoveries blog!

Cheryl Beaudoin

Why a blog devoted to grandparents? And, what will we be discovering, anyway?

The Board and staff of the Discovery Museum have long recognized that grandparents are very important elements of our visitor community. We’d like to find ways to connect with grandparents and learn how best we can support you in your wonderful—and impactful—journeys with your treasured grandchildren.

I have yet to meet a grandparent who doesn’t gush over their little ones (and older ones, too!) but can also have many questions. This blog is an opportunity to share ideas, connect with experts in the world of child development, and learn from our shared experiences.  My goal is to provide some valuable ideas and information and to spark conversations of how to connect with and support our grandchildren.

I’d very much like for this blog to interactive—your stories and perspectives are important. Together, we can discover how best to share our time and experience with our grandchildren to help them be the best they can be!

So, let’s spark some conversation, share our joy of grandparenting, and continue our life-long learning about children, together. Send me your questions, thoughts, and ideas through the comment box below or by email to gpdiscoveries [at] gmail.com (gpdiscoveries[at]gmail[dot]com).

Hi, I’m Cheryl: grandmother, retired Kindergarten teacher, longtime friend (and current Board member) of the Discovery Museum—and now, blogger!  As a grandparent, I try to apply what I learned as a teacher about children and their development to strengthen my relationships with my grandchildren and bring them joy. My hope for this blog is to engage with other grandparents in the Museum community to collect and share stories and ideas about the joys—and challenges—of grandparenting, and how we can connect and deepen our relationships with our grandchildren. Please join me in this wonderful journey we are on—I look forward to hearing from you! Use the comment box at the bottom of any blog post or email me at gpdiscoveries@gmail.com.
